Jeere Meeri Curry for Fish or Prawns - Rosy aunty

Ingredients:
1/2 kg fish or prawns
1 onion (sliced)
1 large potato (cut in cubes - for prawns only)

To powder:
1 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
3/4 tsp coriander seeds
1/2 tsp pepper corns
8-10 byadgi red chillies

To grind along with powdered ingredients:
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 large onion (sliced)
3 cloves garlic
1 marble size ball tamarind or 1 tsp tamarind paste
2 - 3 tbsp desiccated coconut

Steps:
  1. Powder all dry ingredients and grind with rest of the ingredients into fine paste.
  2. In a vessel, heat oil and fry one sliced onion till light brown.
  3. Add masala and fry till the oil separates.
  4. Add water according to your preferred consistency.
  5. Add salt and bring to a boil.  For a prawn curry, add the potatoes at this stage and boil until the potatoes are almost cooked. 
  6. Add fish or prawns. Cook on simmer for 5 minutes and cover with the lid.
