Ponsache Patholi (Jackfruit patholi) - Chrysl

Ingredients:

2 cups brown raw rice
1 cup dosa rice
3 cups jackfruit (remove seeds)
6 pepper corns
1 cup grated coconut 
1/2 cup coconut pieces (optional)
jaggery (to taste)
salt (to taste)
8-10 teak leaves (to wrap the patholi batter)

Steps:
  1. Wash and soak the rice in water for 5 hours, preferably overnight. 

  2. Wash and clean the teak leaves and leave them aside to dry.

  3. Grind the grated coconut with jackfruit and keep aside.

  4. Grind soaked rice with peppercorns without water (do not grind the batter too fine). 
  5. When batter is 1/4 ground, add the jackfruit coconut paste a little at a time. 
  6. When batter is 1/2 ground, add jaggery and salt 
  7. Once fully ground, add the coconut pieces to the batter and mix well.
  8. Put the batter in teak leaves. Close the leaves and hold it in place with toothpicks.

  9. Boil water in a steamer and add the patholis. Steam for 20 to 25 minutes.
  10. Allow it to cool.
  11. ENJOY!
