1 cup rava/sooji
3 - 4 tbsp ghee
15 cashews
3 - 4 tbsp ghee
15 cashews
15 raisins
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
3/4 cup sugar or as per taste
2 cups hot water or milk
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
3/4 cup sugar or as per taste
2 cups hot water or milk
Steps:
- Dry roast the rava and keep aside.
- In a deep pan, heat ghee.
- Roast the cashews till golden brown.
- Add raisins and fry till they fluff up, remove both and keep aside.
- Add the roasted rava to the pan and fry on medium flame. Stir continuously till it gives out a nice aroma. (Stir continuously so the rava doesn't get burnt)
- Dissolve sugar in hot water and add this to the rava a little at a time. Be careful as it splashes out.
- Keep stirring continuously so that lumps don't form.
- Once the rava forms a gooey consistency, add the cashew, raisins and cardamom powder to it. Mix well and switch off the flame and keep covered for few minutes.
- ENJOY!
Notes:
- Fresh sweet pineapples, banana pulp or mango pulp can be added for flavoring right before adding the fried cashews and raisins if you like.
- Optional: Yellow or orange food colour can be added at the end for a nice colour.
