Ingredients:
1 kg beef
1 large onion (sliced)
1 small tomato (finely chopped)
2 carrots (cut to cubes)
3 potatoes (cut in cubes)
oil
1 1/2 - 2 tsp salt
2-3 tbsp sugar (adjust as per taste)
To grind:
3 large onions
2 red byadgi chillies
2 red round chillies (motwi mirsaang)
6 green chillies
1" ginger
2 tsp khus khus
2 tsp khus khus
1 tsp jeera
3 cloves garlic
4-5 peppercorns
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
3/4 bunch coriander leaves with stem (wash 3-4 times)
6-7 sprigs mint leaves (no stems)
1/2" cinnamon
5 cloves
2 amla size tamarind balls
3/4 small freshly grated coconut
2-3 tbsp sugar (or to taste)
Steps:
- Pressure cook the beef with water till soft.
- Boil the carrots and keep aside.
- Grind the onions, green chillies, red chillies, ginger, khus khus, jeera, peppercorns, coriander leaves, mint leaves, cinnamon, cloves, garlic, tamarind, coconut and sugar into a fine paste with a little water. Keep aside.
- In a vessel, heat oil. Add the onions, tomatoes and potatoes fry well.
- Add the ground masala and fry well.
- Add the masala water and the cooked beef with the broth and bring to a boil till the beef is cooked.
- Add the cooked carrot and mix well.
- Switch off the flame.
