coconut oil (to fry)
1 kg beef (preferably an uncut chunk, boneless)
2 medium onions (sliced)
5 short red chillies (cut in half)
2 green chillies (slit)
1" ginger (crushed or chopped)
10 cloves garlic (crushed or chopped)
3 tsp pepper powder
tamarind or vinegar to taste
salt to taste
Steps:
- Wash the beef and drain it.
- Poke the beef chunk with a fork or knife.
- In a pressure cooker, add the beef, onions, red chillies, ginger, garlic, pepper powder, salt, vinegar and water. Pressure cook till it is 80% done and turn off the gas, approximately 4-6 whistles depending on the meat.
- Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and take out the beef and reserve the broth for soup.
- Cut the beef into thin slices.
- Heat coconut oil in a large pan.
- Add the beef slices and fry well on both sides on low flame.
- ENJOY!
Add coriander leaves to the broth and enjoy as a soup.
