Ingredients:
500 gms potatoes
500 gms prawns
1 raw mango (or 10 - 12 bimblis)
1 tbsp oil
salt to taste
vinegar to taste
To grind:
2 large onions (chopped)
6-8 tbsp fresh grated coconut
1 tsp turmeric powder
lime sized ball of tamarind
First powder, then grind the below:
3 tsp coriander seeds
3 tsp cumin seeds
20 pepper corns
1 tsp mustard seeds
7-10 long dry byadgi chillies
3-5 small round chillies (motwi mirsaang)
Steps:
- Powder the red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, pepper corns.
- Add the powdered ingredients to a mixie jar along with turmeric powder, grated coconut, onions and tamarind with 1 cup water and grind to a smooth paste.
- Wash and peel the potatoes and raw mangoes, cut into small cubes.
- Wash, clean and de-vein the prawns.
- In a vessel, heat 1 tbsp oil.
- Add the ground masala, masala water, salt and vinegar and bring the curry to a boil.
- Add the raw mangoes (or bimbli) and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the potatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the prawns and bring to a boil.
- Once the potatoes are half cooked, cover and turn off the flame.
