Marinara Sauce - Chrysl

 Recipe by Chrysl Castelino

Ingredients:

3 large ripe tomatoes (roughly chopped)
50 gms tomato paste
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp olive oil / sunflower oil
1 tsp pizza seasoning / mixed dry herbs
1- 2 tsp paprika powder
1/2 tsp pepper powder
1 tbsp sugar
200 ml water

Steps:
  1. Heat oil in a saucepan and add the chopped tomatoes and fry.
  2. Once the tomatoes are soft, add the tomato paste and all the dry herbs and spices.
  3. Add in the water and bring it to a boil.
  4. Season with salt and sugar. The sugar helps to balance the acidity from the tomatoes.
  5. Continue to boil the sauce for another 10-15 minutes stirring it regularly until it thickens and comes together.
  6. ENJOY!
Notes:
  • You could also add some fresh basil if you like.

  • I prefer to keep this sauce a bit chunky and hence I do not puree the tomatoes or peel off their skin. This sauce tastes amazing on pizzas and can be used in various pasta dishes.

  • You could make this in advance and store it in the fridge for about 2 weeks or you could freeze it. This way it stays fresh for about a month.
