1 large onion (sliced)
2 medium tomatoes (chopped)
1/2" ginger (finely chopped)
1 clove garlic (chopped)
1 green chilli (slit)

Cleaning crabs
Ingredients:
500 gms whole crabs (4 large)1 large onion (sliced)
2 medium tomatoes (chopped)
1/2" ginger (finely chopped)
1 clove garlic (chopped)
1 green chilli (slit)
2 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
2 tbsp oil
salt as required

Steps:
Cleaning crabs
- Wash the crabs in clean water
- Remove the shell, pulling from the back of the crab
- Remove the gills and intestinal parts
- Remove anything that's not pure white
- Chop off ends and sharp edges of legs
- Wash again in water and cut the body into 2 pieces
- Drain them in a colander
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add onion, ginger, garlic and green chilli. Saute until onion is slightly brown in colour.
- Reduce the flame to low and add pepper, cumin and turmeric powders. Fry for a few seconds.
- Add tomatoes and continue frying till it is cooked and soft for 5-10 minutes. Add a little water if required.
- Add salt and vinegar (optional) if required.
- Add crabs one by one. Mix well with the masala.
- Add 1 cup of water and mix well
- Cover with a lid and allow it to cook on medium flame for 5 minutes stirring in between.
- Once cooked, add chopped coriander and cook for 2 more minutes until gravy is semi thick and switch off the flame.
