Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 cup urad dal (dry roast and grind powder)
ajwain/carom seeds to taste *(optional)
sesame seeds to taste *(optional)
cumin seeds to taste *(optional)
Stes:
- Dry roast the urad dal and grind to a fine powder.
- Steam the flour in a cloth for 1/2 hour after whistle.
- Remove the flour and mix with urad dal and knead the dough.
- Add caraway/carom (ajwain), sesame or cumin seeds.
- Add salt to taste.
- Put in form
- Heat oil for deep frying.
- Add the chaklis one at a time and fry on medium flame till crispy on both sides.
- Transfer to a plate and drain excess oil a paper towel.
