Sago and Vermicelli Vorn/Payasam- Maizy aunty

Ingredients:

100 gms sago
200 gms vermicelli
10-15 cashew nuts (peeled & chopped)
10-15 almonds (peeled & chopped)
20-30 raisins
1 litre milk
1/4 - 1/2 tsp cardamom powder (adjust according to taste)
2 tbsp sugar (adjust according to taste)
1/4 tsp salt
ghee

Steps:

  1. Soak the sago for 6-8 hours. 

  2. In a non-stick vessel, add the sago and water. Boil the sago till it is transparent (about 30 minutes)

  3. Boil the milk and keep ready.

  4. In a non-stick vessel, heat ghee. 
  5. Add almonds and fry till golden. 
  6. Add cashew nuts and fry till golden. 
  7. Add raisins and fry till they puff up. Transfer all to a plate. 
  8. In the same ghee, add the vermicelli and fry. 
  9. Add the hot milk and let the vermicelli cook slightly.
  10. Add sago, cardamom powder, salt, sugar and fried nuts and bring to a boil.
