Simple Rajma Masala - Sheru

Ingredients:

1 can rajma/red kidney beans (rinsed in clean water)
1 small onion (chopped)
1 large tomato (finely chopped)
1" ginger
6-8 cloves garlic
2-3 chilies (adjust to your spice level)
1 tbsp red chili powder (adjust to your spice level)
1 tbsp coriander powder
1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
oil

To garnish
coriander leaves (garnish)
green chilis (garnish)
1 tsp garam masala

Steps:

  1. Roughly chop the ginger, garlic and green chillies and crush together in a mortar and pestle. Don't make it a paste. Keep aside.

  2. In a kadai, heat oil.
  3. Add the onion and fry till brown.
  4. Add the crushed ginger, garlic and chilies and fry well.
  5. Add the red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric and salt. Fry till the oil separates.
  6. Add the chopped tomato and mix well. Cook covered till the tomato is cooked.
  7. Add the rajma and mix well.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves, green chilis and garam masala.
  9. ENJOY!
Notes:

  • If you are using fresh rajma, soak it overnight.
