Dal Sheddo (Authentic Bengali Dal) - Jean

Ingredients:

To pressure cook:

1 cup yellow moong dal (soaked in water)
2 cups water
salt to taste
4 cloves garlic
1 medium onion (sliced)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp ghee

For seasoning:

1 tbsp ghee
1 tsp jeera seeds
2-3 dry red chilis
1" cinnamon stick (optional)

Steps:

  1. Pressure cook the dal with all the ingredients for 3 whistles. 
  2. In the mean time, heat ghee in a tadka pan.
  3. Add the jeera, chili and cinnamon stick and fry till the jeera crackles.
  4. Mix together with the pressure cooked dal. 
  5. ENJOY!
