Ingredients:
1 1/2 kg chicken (cut in medium size pieces)
2 big onions (chopped)
3 tomatoes (chopped)
3 potatoes (peeled and cut in quarter)
salt to taste
ghee/oil
To grind:
3-4 dry red byadgi chilies (adjust according to taste)
1 whole pod garlic
1 tbsp jeera
1 tbsp peppercorns
1/4 tbsp coriander seeds
1/4 tsp saunf *(optional- stronger flavour)
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
marble size tamarind
1 tsp vinegar
Steps:
- Grind the red chilies, garlic, jeera, peppercorns, coriander seeds, saunf, mustard seeds, turmeric, tamarind and vinegar to a smooth paste with a little water and keep aside.
- In a vessel, heat oil. Add the onions and fry till brown.
- Add the tomatoes and fry till cooked.
- Add the ground masala and fry for about 10 minutes on low flame till you get an aroma.
- Add salt, chicken pieces, potatoes and mix well. Add water according to desired consistency and bring to a boil.
