Chicken Shawarma - Marina

Ingredients:

750 gms boneless chicken thighs or breast (thinly cut)

For the marinade:

1 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup vinegar
2 cloves garlic (crushed)
1 tsp pepper powder
1/2 salt
2 cardamom pods
1 tsp all spice powder
1 lemon - juice
1/4 cup olive oil

Steps:
  1. Marinate the chicken for at least 8 hours. 

  2. Cook chicken over medium heat for 15 minutes. Don't overcook. If it is too dry, add a little water when cooking. 
  3. Mix it with a home made sauce (recipe below) or store-bought toum (garlic sauce) or tahini and wrap in pita bread/khubs.
  4. ENJOY!

HOMEMADE SAUCE

Ingredients:
5-6 heaped tbsp labneh (about 350 gms)
3-4 garlic cloves (finely minced)
salt to taste
pepper powder to taste

Steps:
  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Add to the chicken and mix together.
