Lauki (bottle gourd/boble) - Sheru

Ingredients:
1 large lauki/bottle gourd/ boble (peeled, deseeded and cut in cubes)
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 tsp cumin/jeera seeds
5 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
1 big onion (finely chopped)

3 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp salt
4 green chillies (sliced)
1 bunch coriander leaves (chopped)
4 tbsp oil

Steps:

  1. In a bowl, mix together ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder and salt. Add water and mix well till it forms a masala paste. 

  2. In a vessel, heat oil.
  3. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and garlic. Fry till garlic turns brown. 
  4. Add onions and cook covered for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the masala paste and cook covered for 7 minutes.
  6. Add the lauki and cook covered for 15 minutes.
  7. Add the coriander leaves and green chillies and turn off the heat. Let it cool for 20 minutes.
  8. If desired, add yogurt.
