Ingredients:
1 cup masoor dal
3 cups water
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp jeera/cumin powder
For the seasoning:
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp paprika powder
1 tsp hing/asafoetida
1 tomato (chopped)
2 tbsp ghee
Steps:
- In a vessel, heat ghee.
- Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, paprika powder, hing and tomato.
- Once the mustard splutters, add the masoor dal, water, turmeric, salt, pepper powder and jeera powder and boil till the dal is cooked.
- ENJOY!
Notes:
- An alternative is to boil the masoor dal with pepper powder, cumin powder and turmeric. Later, add the seasoning to the boiled dal.
