Shortbread Cookies - Zoya

Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks butter)
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 egg
1-2 drops food coloring *Optional 

Steps:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.  
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and food coloring. Combine well. Add flour and continue to mix with your hands to form a soft dough. Shape into round balls and set aside. 
  3. Dust a surface with flour, then roll the dough till 1/4-inch thick. Use a cookie cutter and place cookies on the prepared baking sheets.
  4. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or till cookies are light golden brown. Cool then store in an airtight container.
